Complete Gastric Transection After Blunt Force Trauma

The present case report examines an isolated incident of a relatively uncommon consequence of blunt abdominal trauma – a complete gastric transection. These injuries have an occurrence rate of about 1% and are usually associated with other concomitant injuries and frequently require complex foregut reconstruction due to disruption of neurovascular supply. Our patient did not have any major concomitant injuries and was able to be repaired primarily without any digestive disruption.
